Hey there, fellow tennis enthusiasts It’s your girl Mia Johnson-Carter here, living the dream in Miami. Today, I’m super excited to share with you some amazing news from the world of golf. While I’m all about tennis, I know many of you out there are also passionate about other sports, like golf. So, let’s dive into this incredible win by Liz Young at the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
Liz Young, a 42-year-old Englishwoman from Southampton, has made history by winning her second title on the Ladies European Tour (LET). This victory comes in her 248th competition on the tour, showcasing her dedication and skill. Young secured the win with a total score of 286 (74 73 67 72, -2) shots, outperforming her competitors in the final round.
The Hero Women’s Indian Open took place at the DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurgaon, India. The competition was fierce, with several top players vying for the title. Young’s final round of 72 (par) included a birdie and a bogey, which was enough to overtake her competitors. She edged out Singaporean Shannon Tan, Frenchwoman Agathe Sauzon, New Zealander Momoka Kobori, and Belgian Manon De Roey by one shot. De Roey had seemed almost certain to win but threw away the title with two bogeys in the final round.
Young’s victory was not only a personal achievement but also financially rewarding. She earned $60,000 from a prize pool of $400,000, a significant sum for any professional golfer. The LET is the professional golf circuit based in England, established in 1979. It features mostly European golfers but also includes players from other continents, such as Australia.
